meet my friend

this girl. wow. although we had a rough year maintaining our friendship--due to busy schedules and different classes--she's one of the best people i've had the pleasure of meeting. this summer has been the best thing for us, allowing all the time in the world to catch up and pick up where we left off. love everything about her and am so glad we have this class to bond over. everyone, here's lianne peters

one lonely kiss

and it begins...

now in the swimming mindset, i decided to look back on past season photos.
it's hard to believe the season ended way back in November...after the first day of summer practice, my final swim season is creeping up on me. smaller team, no more seniors, new coach. time for a change. bring it.

question and answer

to my petite AP art class

after a long day of work followed immediately by swim practice, I’m a little tired. no inspiration to edit or take photos—just kinda drained overall. SO, reading through our curriculum guide for summer homework, I came across some questions that are in need of answers. for my daily/nightly blog post, here it goes:

what materials(media) do you wish to work with this upcoming year?

well, that is an excellent question. leaning towards the 2D design portfolio, one would probably guess photography. so the obvious answer would be a camera, some editing software and some cool prints. trying to summon my inner artist, I’ve actually tried to think of different ways to design 2D space. here they are (in grocery list format): transferring photographs onto a window pane or canvas, turning a fashion sketch into a final piece by use of fabric/collage, cartoons using dot technique, print on fabric, utilize dramatic lighting equipment, abstract shape design using bright chalk pastels, photograph/create perspective sidewalk chalk drawings, portraiture without looking too posed (media here would be the people), graphically design an effective poster (using software).

so, that’s all I have for you at the moment. If I think of other things to add, I will keep you posted (no pun intended). more answers to more questions are to follow as my brain gets tired throughout the busy weeks of summer.

yours truly

posting about pop culture #YOLO

not that i'm a huge risk-taker when it comes to dangerous deeds, but YOLO is definitely a theme of the summer. taking chances is more my style; ones that could benefit me, despite the potential nerves or slight moment of awkwardness.
"YOLO, or “You only live once,” is sort of a teen interjection for “Carpe Diem.” Only it’s short on the noble idea of living life to its fullest — and more focused on brash decisions and their consequences."

inspiration

browsing pinterest.com on this ever-exciting Sunday night, i stumbled upon these breathtaking photos. i do not take any photo credit whatsoever, i just found these too beautiful to keep to myself.

memories

january 28, 2012 (otherwise known as the best day of my life so far)
i surprised lianne with tickets to the Summer Set/Cab concert at the Rave for her birthday.
to say it was amazing would be an understatement.
i know the pictures aren't the greates quality--mostly due to the fact that we were in a dark basement and taking the pictures on her iPhone--but i think it captures the atmosphere of a concert, like you're actually there.

Because we're never gonna be as young as we are tonight

We'll let the world know we're alive

We're here to chase the flashing lights

Just wait and see

And there's no need to complicate it
This will be our year to take it
We're never gonna be as young as we are tonight

time of the dinosaurs

in the mood of summer, something a little more light-hearted for my first post. here's a collage of  my 3-year-old cousin enjoying the time of the dinosaurs.
